Energy Saving Products

Energy saving products have exploded onto the market in recent years. They are found in every store and can be purchased online through any number of websites. Every American homeowner should buy energy efficient products for two reasons. The first reason is tax credit. The Federal government will reward the use of certain energy efficient devices with income tax deductions. In terms of more immediate and personal gain, homeowners can expect to see monthly savings begin to accumulate as soon as they begin using more efficient devices in their daily lives.

Compact fluorescent light bulbs are the most practical energy saving products that anyone can immediately invest in. On the average, they cost a little over 7 dollars a bulb. The biggest barrier that people still have to buying these CFLs is that they have been so spoiled by 99 cent incandescent bulbs that they cannot imagine paying a few dollars for a single bulb. The truth of the matter is that there are many things that all of us buy at the grocery store (or the fast food restaurant, or even the bar) that cost far more than this.

CFLs are going to last a long time compared to any of these things, and they will not have to be replaced as often as incandescent bulbs. Even more importantly, the money they save the homeowner pays for them many times over.

Power strips are some of the most important energy saving products you can invest in. This is because most modern appliances do not shut completely off even when you turn off the power switch. There is still a small power drain on the outlet because the device is not really off. It is actually in a form of standby mode. If you plug a power strip into the outlet, and then use the power switch to control electricity to appliances, then you can actually turn the power off completely and eliminate this power drain.

Electricity monitors are some of the least expensive energy efficient products you can purchase. They can cost as little as thirty dollars. These devices plug into power outlets and relay the electricity to other devices that in turn plug into them. A digital display shows how many kilowatts the device is using. Some of the more recent monitors can also display the cost of operating a particular device in dollars and cents form.

The vast inventory of energy saving products on the open market today includes every traditional appliance used in standard kitchens. It also includes more sophisticated devices like air purifiers, humidifiers, and stoves for cooking. Vacuum cleaners are also available that are energy star rated.

For homeowners looking to get the most out of every kilowatt they purchase from the power company, there is a replacement for an outdated device somewhere within driving distance from their home. Also, the enormous number of e-commerce websites makes is possible to buy any energy saving product online if one is willing to pay the shipping cost and wait a few days for the device to arrive.

Few Americans have the money to go out and buy energy saving products all at once. We recommend that people itemize what needs to be replaced and purchase the most cost effective items on the list first. Over time, as savings accumulate, more funds will be available for more upgrades and replacements.
